Mission: ARYL 1X07: Feeling Like a Kid Again
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: After “Suddenly Small”

Leaving Lieutenant Gehente at the conn (young as she was), T'Kal had ordered the command and medical teams to sickbay for scans and to discuss what happened.

"Commander McEntyre," the Captain said, short legs dangling off a biobed that Clay had to lift her onto, "as the only one unaffected by this, I trust that you will take over if our condition causes undue problems."

“Yes Ma’am, but I am hoping we might speak before that becomes an issue” Clay nodded. T’Kal was still his commanding officer but with this…reversion, he was going to have to take command sooner rather than later. Clay’s thought that not a lot of the crew would accept orders from a 12 year old captain.

“We should also consider contacting Admiral Carlson to advise him of our current…dilemma”

She took a deep breath and then nodded. "We will talk later this evening," she confirmed. "After we sort out what we know. And then I will contact Admiral Carlson."

"Doctor," she said, directing her eyes to the much younger child. "What do your scans show?"

Looking over the scans, that he had completed of all officers present, "The beep boop beep machine is telling me, that our wittel bodies, awent only fing dat changed. Our bwains show undewdewlopped like they would cowespond to ouw... to how we wook. I wook wike im a wittle boy, and my bwain acts like it." He paused. "but big booboos," gesturing toward annika, "Awe all bettew now." he took another scanner took the captain.scanner "You don't have the icky in your blood... whatewer dis is... wewewses our bodies as dey wewe when we wewe dis age. De stwange fin is. I know my twaining, i know how to make peoples booboos better."

T'Kal could feel a pang of impatience as she listened to the report, but she did her best to tamp it down. Interesting. Reversal of injuries. Illnesses, including her own. Retaining skills. But with it came other problems.

"Counselor," she said, looking at Annika. "Do you have anything further to report? Have you sensed anything concerning our mental well-being?"

Annika took a deep breath, as a younger girl she was always quite shy. “To be honest Captain, my abilities at this age aren’t that easy to control, I struggled a lot with early onset so my views maybe…unreliable. Saying that as Cas already said our minds have regressed even though we still possess our knowledge. People will literally start acting their age.”

T’Kal nodded. She suspected the same.

Emilie was busy scanning Valerie with her body turned slightly to keep anyone from snooping on the results, but Valerie just rubbed her forehead, "I don't remember having these sorts of headaches when I was this young." She said as she moved her attention to her temples, "But I'll get used to it, I guess. But ma'am, if this is the worst of our troubles, no need to be relieved. We just need to find out what happened."

"Your confidence is noted," T'Kal told her XO. "Let us hope it is not unfounded."

Emilie went to one of the cabinets and selected a mild analgesic and returned to press it to the XO's neck, "That should improve things a little, but don't get your hopes up too much." She said quietly to Valerie.

Cas noticed the two, "can we go pway in the othew room. Just the three of us. It's important." He asked "ensign and Commander." He paused as he realized how he was wording. "Ensign, Commander, sowwy, can we talk privately."

"Of course, Doctor." Valerie said as she felt a little bit of relief from the headache, sliding off the bed and landing a foot and a half later with more grace than a thirteen-year old should, but glanced up and smiled, "Ensign?" She asked Emilie.

"Yes." The nurse nodded, closing the tricorder after clearing the results.

"Commander McEntyre and I will leave you to your consultation," T'Kal said. "Counselor, I'd like you to talk to the crew. I'll do the same. We'll discuss further tomorrow.

The Captain looked to Clay and stuck her arms out. "Kindly help me down, Commander."

Clay nods as he picked T'kal up with relative ease and sat her down on the ground.

Annika nodded even as her stomach lurched at the thought of having to speak to people. She hated having no confidence in herself again.

Valerie stretched widely as she stood on one foot, "All right doc, what can we do for you?"

"Follow me to my woom." He gestured for them to follow. Once they were in the room, he tried climing up on his chair. Flustered, he found a box and used that as a stool to climb his way into the seat. "Thewe." Looking at both. "Cawe to tell me the twuth " He said matter of factly. It might have been his physical and mental capabities. He wouldn't call one of them out let alone both. "I fink you keeping secwet."

Valerie and Emilie shared a brief look and Valerie gave a partial shrug and half turned away. It was Emilie that spoke, however, "Doctor, Commander Novis has a rare disease that affects only Trill." This was actually the truth, "I've had experience and training to treat it. It's just managing the condition, nothing dramatic. It won't kill the Commander, or even become debilitating anytime soon, but it's not something she wants to get out to the rest of the crew, not even the Captain."

Cas put the maddest face he could muster, 'Im mad you. And you. bowt of you know that the safety of the cwew is my top pwiowity. If the catain doesnt need to know i do. Im a big boy, i know to keep secwets. I took an oath when i went thwough doctor school. Do no hawm. Always keep owies away from people who don't need to know... you know what i mean. If ders a medical issue, i need to know." he turned. " not getting lolli for dis... im eating it." pausing. "Send me all infomation about her owies and ickies. i make secret code so no one can reead just like spies..."

Emilie sighed heavily, rolling her eyes widely, "Doctor, there's no point in it. The odds that you're going to run into anyone else with this is minescule at best and I have it well under control here." She crossed her arms like the petulant teenager she looked to be, "It's genetic, not transmissible and there is no 'treatment' for it. It's not about trusting you or not to keep the secret, it literally doesn't matter. The Commander wants me to deal with it and doesn't want it to be part of the official record. The only thing it does is cause occasional general fatigue and sometimes headaches with some nausea. Things I can handle without the need for a new file entry."

"But you godda isten to me. Im da boss. If you dont i godda tell de capain. Den more questions." He crossed his arms defiantly. "Its me or lots and lots of paperwork, no secwets fwom me. also. If you not abe i can hewp wit her."

Still unconvinced, Emilie looked towards Valerie who remained motionless, then gave a flick of a wrist. Emilie nodded, "I'll make sure to upload the information needed before the end of the shift, Doctor," The nurse said with a shake of a head, "It's just monitoring isoboramine levels to make sure they're within set parameters and ensuring anti-histamines are available for insect bites. Commander Novis has been stable on the isoboramine levels, so as I say, nothing to worry about."

Taking a pad out of his desk. "Hewe, dis only i can wead. Its not connected to any oder computer. My eyes only. If it makes your head booboo go away."

"I'll be fine." These were the first words out of Valerie since they stepped in, "I can handle this. I've done it before, I'll do it again." The words were sharp, but at least they came from her.

"I'll have this back to you shortly, Doctor." Emilie accepted the pad with a nod, "Is there anything else, sir?"

"If keep secwet fwom me again... I will tattle tale to stawfweet." Cas replied with his arms crossed. "Show me scans you wemoved from beep boop beep machine."

"I can't." Emilie admitted, "I already deleted them, however I will go redo them so that you can refer to them. You can even watch." Valerie stiffened momentarily, then relaxed. Emilie had a plan.

Squinting, as if trying to determine the validity of her claim. "No I wanna do it."

A flicker of emotions ran across Emilie's face, but there was hardly any hesitation before she answered, "Very well." She said in a voice that was definitively flatter than before, almost resigned, "Ma'am, if you'll come over here?" She gestured Valerie over to the chair that Cas was in before she pulled the medical scanner out and handed it to the five-year old before she stepped around behind him, "The location that needs to be checked for isoboramine levels is the base of the skull, Doctor, it's a functional neurotransmitter in Trill."

Cas jumped up and down, before realizing what he was doing. "Im gonna look at hew whowe head." He replied taking the machine. "I like how it goes beep boop beep as i wave it like a magic stick." Looking at the readings "I seen your kind of peoples brain thingies befowe, Dis not it. Something wrong." He jumped out of his chair, taking the readings to the computer. "There too many... chemicals, and not enough of other chemicals." A smile came across his face. "I said a big boy word. Chemical." Pausing. He dragged a chair to a cabinet housing medication. "Some needs mowe othew need not mowe. I can hewp. Tempowawy. If dis not fixed soon. We all go bad, need to do magic scientisty things, taking a few vials, and placing them in a hypospray. This is vewy stwong. It will hewp wif chemicals in her bwain." Going over to the computer. "Computer says chemical imbawance. Which is making her owies reawwy bad. Dis is temporary, it will hewp wit pain, and balance some of de chemicals. I can give some for few days... but might need stwongew latew."

"The computer isn't always right." Emilie stated, moving over next to him and checking the medications that had gone into the hypospray. Good, none of them would be harmful, "But this should work for now."

Valerie rolled up her sleeve and presented her arm to the Doctor without even needing to be asked about it, "Let's get this over with.."

"Yay... I get to do big docto stuff." He replied as he pressed it to her arm. Jumping down. He ran over to the table, and pulled out three lollipops. "One lolli for you." He handed it to Valerie, "One lolli for you." He handed it to Emilie. "And one for me... because i made a boo boo go bye bye," He replied as he stuck it in his mouth. Smiling from ear to ear. Obviously proud of himself.

“Kids..” Valerie muttered, but pocketed the sweet anyways. “I’m headed back to the bridge.” She told them both, I’ve got work to do. Someone has to do it, at least.”
